The House Intel Committee didn’t get much when it subpoenaed The Federal Bureau of Investigation and The Justice Department in regards to Trump’s dossier. This dossier was originally posted by the liberal news group BuzzFeed in January. It is completely unsubstantiated and looks to prove ties between Russia and President Donald Trump.
Neither the FBI or Justice Department responded to the request which is why the House Intel Committee is now looking for separate individuals to get the help that they need. Trey Gowdy responded to this.
“We got nothing,” said Rep. Trey Gowdy, the leader of the committee’s Russia probe. “The witnesses have not been produced and the documents have not been produced.”
The subpoenas have now been sent to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray directly. The deadline has also been extended until September 14th. These subpoenas tell the individuals to explain why the original request was not met. This has put the investigation in a bit of a hole.
The dossier has been put under a lot of question recently. It is looking more and more like it is completely false. That is also wheat Trey Gowdy seems to think. Liberals have been looking for anyway they can hurt the Trump administration.
Jeff Sessions is one of the men that needs to show up and explain what is going on.
“I’m sure you’re noting with the same irony I’m noting the difficulty that a Republican Congress is having getting information from a Department of Justice run by Jeff Sessions,” said Gowdy.
Rep. Devin Nunes, the chairman of the committee has said that he will hold Sessions and Wray in contempt of Congress if they do not respond in full to the subpoena. This is heating up quickly and it is sad to see President Trump get caught in the middle of it all. He has been fighting back against liberal hate for far too long now. That is exactly what this is turning into.
Hopefully Devin Nunes and co. can quickly come up with the truth regarding this investigation. That is what conservatives are waiting for.
